Professor Alan Sinclair MSc, MD, FRCP

Professor Sinclair is an internationally and nationally recognised researcher in the field of diabetes in older people. Professor Sinclair works closely with Professor Angus Forbes at King's College, London in the area of diabetes, older people and frailty and together they have had several recent high profile publications.
He is a World Health Organization (WHO)-recognised expert in diabetes and in 2014 was appointed to the WHO and International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) Expert Group on Frailty reflecting his work in the area of diabetes and frailty.
He has received numerous awards in recognition of his work, these include the recent 2013 IAGG Presidential Medal: which is the highest honour the IAGG can bestow upon a doctor – this was for services to diabetes.
The IDF (International Diabetes Federation) appointed Prof Sinclair to Co-Lead the Working party to produce Global Guidance on Managing Diabetes in Older People which is now published and available on the IDF website. Prof Sinclair was the first to be appointed by the Department of Health to the position of National Clinical Lead for Diabetes in Older People. He is currently leading discussions for the Joint British Diabetes Societies (JBDS) with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for developing quality diabetes standards in UK care homes: this follows on from his leadership of the first National Diabetes Audit in Care Homes (2013-4).
As well as a portfolio of current national and international research and a strong track record in high-impact publications, Prof. Sinclair has a considerable output in translational work having been the lead academic in producing current international and national guidelines for older people’s care and end of life care in diabetes.

Director and Service Lead, DUET diabetes Ltd. Lynne has over 13 years of experience working within the pharmaceutical sector; her last position was for a leading diabetes company. Lynne’s passion has always been education and training; in founding 'DUET diabetes' in 2015 the primary aim was to improve outcomes (and therefore quality of life) for people living with diabetes, regardless of their age or circumstances.
Lynne is a Member of the National Advisory Panel for Care Home Diabetes (NAPCHD) and has presented at local and national events.
